Pamario Gallery of the Lithuanian National Museum of Art (L. Rėzos St 3, Neringa, Juodkrantė) continues this spring its “Migrating Museum” series. Every month Juodkrantė’s locals and visitors of the seaside resort are invited to unusual social gatherings, events of art and food degustation. The season’s opening event starts at 2 pm Saturday 29 March, subsequent evolutions are scheduled for 26 April and 17 May.

The “Migrating Museum” project, in its third year already, aspires to enhance a relevance element in the reception of the artwork from the LNMA collections by bringing the classical and contemporary art and artists closer to the seaside resort’s local and visiting audience. The events of the project introduce guests into professional art, at the same time, members of the local community offer their gastronomical innovations to sample and share recipes. Such cultural synergy of the gatherings builds strong relationships, disposes towards dialogue and discussion.

The first event of the “Migrating Museum” this spring presents the work by photography artist Remigijus Treigys, Assistant Professor of Vilnius Academy of Arts, Klaipėda Faculty. He is also a member of the Lithuanian Photographers’ Association, Creators’ Association, and of the Lithuanian Artists’ Association. In Juodkrantė, Treigys give a kind of retrospective, presenting his work from the 1980s to most recent images. The decaying, disintegrating objects and hazy, nearly empty urban landscapes captured by his lens render the passage of time. The effect of passing time is enhanced by a melancholic and nostalgic atmosphere created in his textured-surface, predominantly earth-tone images.

In 2021, Remigijus Treigys received the National Lithuanian Prize for Culture and Arts for the poetics of signs of time in art photography.

At the event, Bernadeta Kazlauskienė, a local of Nida and the founder of “Closer to Nature Nida”, will share some palate-pleasing, yet healthy sweet pastries, rye bread and other savoury food. The young fisherman’s wife describes her produce as a “freshly-baked recreation in the oven of nature” and invites everyone to try it.

Everyone willing to get better acquainted with Remigijus Treigys’s art photography and to please their taste buds, are kindly invited to the LNMA’s Pamarys Gallery at 2 pm Saturday, 29 March.

Event is free.
